Notes email forwarding

I have a user who want to forward his notes mail to an external account. He has manager rights to his mail database and can create/edit/etc agents.

But, when I created a forwarding agent using Simple actions, Send mail message, Include a copy of the document in message, his external address does not receive it, nor is there any record in the notes logs that say it send it.

This does work for forwarding to an internal notes address however. Is there a way to do this for external addresses?

If you have permissions to change the users person document in the NAB, you can add a forwarding address in the proper field. Just keep in mind that it FORWARDS all mail and leaves nothing behind.

We do this a lot when people go on long time leave. Just an idea.

Thanks for your reply John, but I already tried that alternate route (Sorry, should have mentioned that). Same problem. They both work if I use an internal notes address, but not an external one.

Users can even forward mail to the outside world manually, it just won't work through an agent or the NAB.

Is there some permissions setting I'm missing somewhere that keeps notes from forwarding mail to the outside world in this way?

 
Hello,

Do you have one SMTP (Domino) box, or are there multiple hops on inbound mail. Are you using an external Virus wall? Let me know.

Just the one Domino box running SMTP. No AV wall, but a spam mail gateway that sits between the Domino server and the outside world. I've checked the logs on the gateway and there is no record of the forwarding external email tests I've performed, just as there is no record of them in the notes logs.

OK, does the SMTP header get changed from your Spam box? What type of box is it? IMSS?

Does it simply forward all mail to the IP of your Domino box not filtered?

Sorry for the long delay. Hope you are still around to help John.

The Spam box does not modify the headers of the emails. It simply passes the email along if the content passes its non spam criteria (inbound). The outbound email is untouched by the anti-spam gateway and simply passes it on to our ISP's email server to send it out.

I think the forwarding issue has to be a problem in our notes setup somewhere, I just don't know where to look.

Can you "test" the agent from Designer. What does it tell you? Anything helpful. I'm thinking your agent might appear as a relay to your SMTP box (Notes Server). What does the Notes log say? Can you paste the output?
