When the user opens an email at the bottom it diplays 238 unread documents, although there are no unread emails in fact hardly any emails in any folders, have compacted the mail file and still displays these 238 unread documents. Any ideas why this is happening?

If the user wasn't the owner of the company and my new employer I would say big deal its wrong who cares, but it is so I'd better not [pipe] thanks for any help

How is the mail being accessed?
Remote User looking at Server File ???
Has the User been using the Mark All Read/Unread option ???
Does the user have access on multiple PC's/Laptops ??
If the file s/he is looking at is a replica, rename & recreat & see if that helps.

How is the mail being accessed?
Direct from the server using the notes client 5.0.8

Remote User looking at Server File ???
She is accessing it from her desktop machine

Has the User been using the Mark All Read/Unread option ???
No she wouldn't know how to

Does the user have access on multiple PC's/Laptops ??
No just from one pc she also has a Blackberry Handheld

Is there any mailbox utilities, to import/export mail to different mail files / create new mail files?

Try going to the All Documents in the right hand pane of your mailbox. Click Edit. Select All. then click Edit->Unread Marks->Mark All Read. Send her a new email after that and it should say 1 unread. open the new one. if that doesnt work, remove her mailbox from her lotus notes client and re-add it.
