Chapter11

We've just deployed two new Notes servers, both are more or less identical: they're on Win2K server running Domino 5.0.something. Both machines run the same version and patches of Windows and Domino.

Both machines are also running the same version of the Legato client (6.0.3) and the same version of the Notes BSM (2.1).

The only difference between the two servers (besides size/disk space) is that one serves up email, and the other serves up "other" databases.

The "other" one, all of its NOTES save sets are fine. The mostly-email server on the other hand, all of its save sets generate with errors (they have an E flag in mminfo). The backups for this server *appear* to run fine, and the proper amount of data is recorded to backup media, but the savesets are marked Error, and /nsr/logs/messages contains a very very long list of "Unsuccessful Save Sets" for the machine, which appears to be a complete list of all files it is trying to back up.

I've diddled the myFlags line in nsrnote.bat, both machines were originally -T (a necessary evil here). One worked, the other didn't. I've changed the non-working one to -R but it still doesn't work.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi,
Have you excluded the well known zero byte database "cluster.ncf" which mentioned in the LN 2.1 admin. guide. If not, then you must exclude it before you can backup your server successfully.

Thanks for the info. I made the change, but it doesn't appear to have helped any.

And the working fix was: set the NML_SKIPDBERRORS env var in the nsrnote.bat to skip some corrupt Notes databases.

Chapter11,

Have you entered the exactly path?
For example:
c:\Lotus\Notes\Data\cluster.ncf
f:\Lotus\Domino\Data\cluster.ncf

The doco wasn't clear as to if I should have included a path, I didn't. I did get the thing working however with the NML_SKIPDBERRORS env var set.
