Notes 6 & 7 issue where attachment is xls vs pdf

When using Lotus Notes 6.5.3 or 7.0.2, multi pdf attachments generated by 3rd party product (Transform Content Center by Bottomline Technologies), are attached as a xls vs. pdf. Does anyone have any solution to this or knowledge of this? Thanks
