Notes 6.5 with Mac - file truncated

When trying to attach files to new messages or even replied to/forwarded messages using Notes 6.5 on Mac OS 10.3, I sometimes get an error mesage - 'File truncated - file may have been damaged - .....(file name)' This happens randomly, and to different files each time. I can goto a Windows PC in my office, and send it fine from there.
Any ideas? thanks.
