Since we've moved our users to Windows XP and Notes 6.5 (from Windows NT and Notes 5) I've had several complaints from some of our users that in some of our databases they can't print documents or select text whereas they could before.

The common factor between these users is that they only have author or less access to the database in question.

Changing their access to editor fixes the problem.

Anyone know what could be happening here and whether there is a way to turn this 'feature' off without increasing the user's access to editor or above?

Whatever your access level, if you do not have the ablility to replicate the database content in the ACL, then you cannot make any copy at all.

This is a security measure implemented in R6.

If your users need to make copies, you should be able to leave them as Author, but with replication rights. Setting that should resolve the issue without bombarding everyone as an Editor to the database.

Editor access should be very restricted. An Editor can modify anything he sees if there is no programming to control that. That is a situation you prefer avoiding !

Pascal.
