Here's a question for ya...

I've incorporated a button in my program that, when pressed, opens the Notepad application, so that the user can take notes. My question is...is there a way that when the user is done, he can save the notepad document as a cast member so that he can access it at a future time through the director movie?

Basically, I want to know if the Notepad document can be saved in Director as opposed to the person's hard drive. I don't want the user to have to find it on his hard drive. I'd like him to be able to bring up a list of notepad documents and view them while he his viewing the movie. If there is no way to do that, then is it possible to have the user type notes in a field and save it and name it for use at another time?

Please let me know. Thanks.

Two suggestions:

1) Windows allows you to pass messages between windows. A very good feature but leads to some of the baddest assed exploits. You can use buddyAPI to pass a message to the notepad window to save the file in some temporary location and then open that file using fileIO to get it's contents and write them to a cast member. I personally would'nt do this coz it certainly is not very relaible.

2) Why not build your own notepad. You can open it in a MIAW and also provide right click menus for "cut", "copy" etc. IMO this is a better way because you have complete control of what is happening.
