Hi all.

I have some problems with "Wise for Windows Installer Proffesional 3.5".
The first one:
How can I deaktivate this "Modify, Repair, Remove"-possibility which appears the second time you execute the install-file? (in the Setup-Editor Dialog tab it is called "Maintenance Welcome Dialog")
I want the installer to reinstall my program without asking for "remove", "modify" and "repair".

The second problem:
during the installation the program has to execute three tasks: stopping a 'service' (system is WinNT/2k), after stopping it my files shall be installed, then a *.bat-file has to be executed and last a 'service' has to be started.
How can I tell the installer to do this in the right order?

I hope someone can help me with this.

thanks & best regards

tekna,

In reference to your second question, WfWI uses Sequence numbers to process the actions in order. Go to Setup Editor, select the Actions Tab and select the required sequence on the left hand side. This will usually be UI Sequence. Once you have selected the required sequence, on the right hand pane you will see all the actions that will occur in this particular sequence. To sort the rows into sequence order just click the column heading Sequence. Then it is basically a matter of scrolling down until you find the actions you created and noting the sequence number. The sequence numbers are unique within the package. So a sequence number in the UI sequence will not be used in the Admin sequence.
One way to change your a sequence number just double click the action on the right hand pane and a dialog box will appear for you to edit.

In regards to your first question I am not sure off the top of my head, I would have to have a play around with it as I am sure you are doing anyway. Just a word of warning make sure the user running the package has sufficient rights to stop and start the services otherwise you may find it wont install as expected. Just something I have run into already when playing with the printer spooler service.

Hope this helps.

Not sure how much you know about Wise so I will keep it simple. Sorry if there is too much detail.

Got to Setup Editor
Click on the Actions tab
Hightlight the folder where you want the batch file to run. ie "Execute Sequence" or "UI Sequence" under whichever branch.

Right-Click in the right hand pane
Select New
Select Custom Action

Custom Action Type: Call Exe File
Source: File on destination machine

Installation Directory: "Click on Browse and select your previously configured directory where you are going to run this batch file from"

Command Line: %COMSPEC C:\Temp\MyBatchFile.bat

After that, select whatever options are appropriate for you particular installation.

This is the way I got it to work. I am only new to Wise myself so there could be an easier or different to do it.

HTH
