Not sending characters to switch

I have the Procomm Plus connected to CS1000M CPiv Rel 4.5. This morning it worked fine but now its not. I can received from switch but can't transmit. Can anyone help with this matter.

Is this a modem or direct connection? Is it possible that characters are being sent but not appearing on your screen (you can test this by entering a command followed by the Enter key and see if you get a response)?

It's a direct connect-Com1.
Nothing is showing on screen now.....I can't even type any characters plus nothing showing up from switch.

Is the terminal emulation set to the correct value? What about the speed and other connection parameters?

I can't type anything and I'm not getting any response from other connection.

If I just open Procomm and not be connected to any other equipemnt, I still should be able to type on the screen....am I correct.

No, the characters that appear on the screen are echoed by the system you are connecting to, so I wouldn't expect any characters to appear unless you are set to half-duplex.

You might try running Hyperterminal to see if it can access the system. That will let us know if the problem is in Procomm or somewhere else. Below is some information I copied from my website:

If you find yourself in a situation where Procomm Plus cannot communicate with your modem, try using the copy of HyperTerminal that was installed with Windows. If HyperTerminal (or another terminal application) can access the modem successfully when Procomm Plus cannot, then you have a Procomm Plus problem to diagnose. However, if HyperTerminal also cannot talk to the modem, then you have a deeper problem to solve. HyperTerminal is usually located in the Communications subfolder under the Accessories program group.

Is Procomm Plus compatiable with Windows XP.

No versions of Procomm were supported on XP, but many people have been using version 4.8 without any problems. However, I just noticed you are using version 4.5, which could have some issues possibly. I think versions 4.8 was partially released due to problems with Windows 2008, so it's conceivable that there might be some problems using 4.5 on XP, but I don't know that for a fact.
