I just installed exchange server 2000 on W2k Server and i had my ISP point the MX record to my Static IP. Then opened up port 25/110/143 on my router and forwarded those ports to my exchange server. Then setup my smtp with the ip address and the my ISP DNS server. But i can't receive or send email. When i try to send mail it just stays in my outbox. Can anybody help using outlooks 2002 as a client.

Thanks

First of all, Outlook has nothing to do with that.
Test you communication from and to the server first.

See for a Telnet test:

If you use your ISp to send out mail, mark it as Smart Host, if they let you!

I got it to send and receive now but clients are extremelly slow to connect to the exchange server you have to do a couple of retry to get it to connect to it. Would you know why that would be?

That can be alot.
Slow network, bad cable, congestions, to busy server... hard to tell from here,
Test with 1 client etc. to eliminate possibilities.
