Redhat linux server running sendmail 8.12 I think.

After a spam hijack, this machine is not receiving mail from external sources.

It will send mail from the server using internal cgi programs or pine, and mail generated by internal cgi programs is delivered correctly to the correct user on the server.

But no mail comes through from external sources. Pop email client can contact the account, but there is no mail.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Mike

2 things,
look at sendmail and set a higher debug level to see if any activity.

telnet to your port 25, and see if you get any errors
telnet computer.myhost.com 25 is the command. if you browse you can find the procedures to mannually test.

sendmail -d returns

sendmail -d
