not receiving incoming internet emails

Hi all.

I was hoping someone could shed a bit of light on this problem.

Envronment: GroupWise 6 on a NetWare 5 platform (all patched current).

Problem: All was working fine until this morning (no changes made over the weekend). Now my users can send/receive emails internally and can send externally (Internet) but not receive externally sent emails.

The only thing I could find was on the GWIA (6.0.2). It said,
&quot;Detected error on SMTP command&quot; and then &quot;Response: 450 Host Down <domain name>.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be (and is) greatly appreciated.

Test it

Ping may not be a very good test, a good firewall will not allow ICMP traffic through it for a ping test to work.

From an out side connection to the Internet, telnet to your servers IP address on port 25. If something answers, then your firewall is not your problem. Then telnet to your servers domain name on port 25. If somthing answers, then no one is sending you mail. ;-) Brent Schmidt CNE,Network +
