I ran out of paper on my Network printer (HP LaserJet 4 plus) and refilled it, but it wouldn't print. I chased it through the steps, and pserver thinks it is still out of paper (hooked up to the server via a PCI print (parallel) port) and says so (flashes) on the print services console (NEtware 4.11) In steps, I cleaned all mechanical/electric/-tronic connections, the sensor (P2) on the printer, then hooked it up to another PC. That way the printer works just fine. How do I tell Pserver that I really do have paper in the printer?

Did you check the cable which connects the printer to the server? I'm assuming it's a different one then the one you used to connect to the PC. Sometimes bad cables cause the server to misinterpret the info it's getting from the printer. If it's not the cable, it might be that the print card on the server got shorted out, or needs "dusting" with an air can or (preferably) a mini-vac.

Double check your documentation on the server (or go to Novell's documentation site and see if there's a way to clear the print server's memory. It might just need a "jumpstart". Or there might be something else the server thinks is wrong, but is unable to tell you because it's stuck on "Out of paper".

Anyway, I hope this helps.

Are you running the latest service pack for NetWare? All of the TIDs which I have looked at on Novell's website indicate a problem with hardware? You are not IRQ sharing the PCI parallel card with another device are you? Have you got something else connected to the onboard parallel port?? -----------------------------------------------------
