NOT-LOGGED-IN hogging licenses

I am running two NetWare 3.12 servers and get bombarded by NOT-LOGGED-IN connections, usually in the morning. By 11 am, these connections would eat up my number of licensed connection (250) and my real users wouldn't be able to connect to the server. I have to use NLICLEAR to kill these unwatned connections, but a side effect is that NLICLEAR also kills my DOS clients if the clients don't log in immediately. Win95 clients running newer NetWare client with support for NDS also gets killed by NLICLEAR. How do I prevent these N-L-I from connecting in the first place? I thought it has to do with SET REPLY TO NEAREST SERVER, but not so.

The problem is the newer novell internet-client software.

Check your watchdog settings. By Default Settings, Watchdog will delete the Not-Logged-In connections after a week. There are about 5 Watchdog settings. You will have to add the statements to your start up ncf files. This is not the exact wording because I do not have a 3.12 server available to lookup the wording but they go something like this.

Delay before starting to send Watchdog packets = xxx
Time between Watchdog Packects = xxx
Number of Watchdog Packets = xxx

I'm sure someone will jump in after me and help out with the wording and placement.

David W.
