not linking javascript files correctly

Greetings!

Apache 2.0.59/php 5.1.1 winXP

When my pages are served, Apache seems to skip the first 150 or so lines (Probably a consistent number of characters) of the linked javascript files and, I suspect the css files.

I used firefox error console to determine that the beginning of the javascript code is missing. Not checked the css yet.

I have 2 other installations on winxp and 2 on w2k that work fine. The only difference is the other machines are running Apache 2.0.52 I tried installing 2.2.4 and got the same symptom.

Totally puzzled. Any idea appreciated.

Are you referring to JS provided as an include in the html that the browser is supposed to retrieve?

in the <HEAD> section for example....you can see the result at
