I am making a database similar to that of a employee records list, and on most records of the form there is a picture of the employee. However, when creating a report of this form, when there is no picture available for a staff member, the report leaves a large space where the picture would be. How can I get the report to ignore the picture field and not leave a gap if there is no picture in it?

Thanks,
Quicky

Open the forma and look at the "Size Mode" there are 3 choices
1. Clip
2. Stretch
3. Zoom

try any of those
or
this MAY work or it will get you started

Create a smaller picture and call it NOPic.bmp or .jpg

In your favorite paint Program put the words "No Pic. Avail." in the middle of this small picture and save it.

then you need to figure out where to put this code

If isnull([picture field]) then
[picture field].picture = "c:\NoPic"
End if

The problem with the report though is that only about 10% of the records have pictures. I did try messing about with the size, clip etc settings, but it still leaves a gap. From what I can see from your suggestion, the report would just show the 'no picture' message, but because of the few pictures that there are, I don't think this would be very feasible. I have however got around the problem by a bit of a cop out. I have left all of the pictures out of the main report, and simply created another one that contains all the pictures and which records they relate to, so that once printed it can just be attached to the end of the first form, and used as a reference. A bit of a cheat, but at least it works.

Thanks anyway,
Quicky
