Hello,
I have a Laptop with a strange problem, I can´t get IE to display pages (It gives me the DNS error) and messenger to connect; but the system can perform the automatic updates and I can ping succesfully.

I checked the Explorer options and put that detecs the connection automatically and never use dial-up for connection.

Also uninstalled and reinstalled the explorer, fixed the winsock 2 with a tool; checked for spyware.

The LAN connections that I have (wired and wireless) are getting their IP, Mask and Gateway from the server.

What else can I do?

Detect connections automaticly" is only needed if you have a Proxy server; otherwise uncheck that box so that all the boxes on the LAN settings page of Internet Options, Connections, are unchecked.

Then follow this "Guided Help" KB article from Microsoft dealing directly with your issue:
If your issue is with secure sites, make sure your computer clock is set correctly, and that you permit cookies.

Thank´s for the help. It worked well.
Thank´s a lot!
