we are having a problem making long distance calls. i've check with qwest and they are saying that "the calls are not coming through to them and that it is our local provider". kind of having a hard time understanding that because we have a couple of local providers for each office.

so the problem is this, called a long distance number and it sounds like it rings one time, dead silence, then a busy tone. any suggestion guys?

Use your Cisco Dialed Number Analyzer on the number you are trying to dial and see where it is routed.

If it is a PRI, go to the gateway and turn on debug isdn q931 and see what you are sending out.

Tony,

definitely do as pndscm says - nothing beats q931 debugs. If you can't tell what's going on with them, post the debug here for a test call and we'll look it over.

telnet in the gateway
enable
issue the 'terminal monitor' command
(turn on logging on your terminal emulator program)
issue a 'debug isdn q931' command
(lots of output will scroll by depending on call volume)
make a couple of test calls
issue a 'u all' command (short for 'undebug all' - you do not have to wait for the debugs to stop to issue this. just type it in and hit enter. if you can't read what you're typing, it can take a couple of tries to get it right)

Find the SETUP message that corresponds to your test call (search the text log using the phone number you dialed out with) and paste it along with the ISDN conversation that follows (usually SETUP, CALL PROC, DISCONNECT, RELEASE COMPLETE)
