Hi All

Crystal (v8.5)

I am currently trying to create a parameter field with employee names

ex: John Doe

When I select the table and field name from my ODBC database it only shows a limited number of names.
A thru B (I have 12000 users). Can I import all the names in Crystal or do I have to export it to another source then re-import it?

You can create your own picklist by creating a Crystal Report with the fields you want displayed in the dropdown, in your case, {employeename}. (You could also add a second column to the report which would populate the description field in the dropdown, and the second column could be a concatenation of fields providing other info, e.g., employee title and department). Make sure there are no other fields showing, e.g, column names, header or footer info. Export this to a .ttx (tab-separated text) file and save it as a .txt file in a folder of your choice. Run WordPad and eliminate any quotations marks, using find and replace. Save and close. In your create parameter window, choose set defaults, and then select import list, and choose your .txt file. For the display option, select value and description.

This is a static picklist--you would have to update it periodically. Alternatively, there are tools that you can get which offer dynamic picklist functionality.
