Hi

New to BO so please bear with me.

I'm using BO with BMC ITSM. In my AR application I've created some new join forms. When viewing the forms in the Remedy User tool and via the mid-tier all fields are visible and populated as expected.

In Universe Designer I have inserted the table (representing the join form). If I right click the table and select Table Values I see all the fields and values.

When I drag and drop the table to create the class/objects some of the fields do not transfer and as such I can't use them in my reports.

Why is this and what can I do to fix it....

Any help appreciated

I've not failed! Just found 100 ways that don't work...yet!

Hmm, If memory serves well, then some datatypes like CLOB,BLOB, Memo etc (binary fields) do not really work well with BI metadata tools like Universe designer..

Thanks Ties

I'll double check but I'm sure that the majority of these missing fields are just standard character ones. I do know that one is a 'diary' type field.

I have even check permissions on the original AR Form. I have a bunch of them that are our of the box in ITSM (SR Field Type 01 through to SR Field Type 40) and all bar the first one does not transfer and yet as far as I can see SR Field Type 01 and 02 have the same sort of properties and permissions.

I'll carry on digging....

You say they are character, but they are likely nvarchar. BO will not automatically bring those over when you drag a table from the right to the left. You can build them manually and they work fine.

This has been a limitation for years.

Thanks Steve,

As I said I'm new to BO. Could you explain a bit more about 'You can build them manually'

I have since looked and it looks like SR Field Type 01 is a CLOB - It has the following properties (listed SR Filed Type 02 as a comparison)

Code:
Property SR Field Type 01 SR Field Type 02
Length Units Bytes Bytes
Data Type Character Character
Entry Mode Optional Optional
Input Length 0 80
The same goes for WO Type Field 01 - 05 which are all Character Fields but with field length 0

OK, figured it out.....

In the left hand panel right click and select object. Name the object and select Long Text from the dropdown. In the Select panel click the chevron button and navigate to the field you need. Double click the field. Click OK. Check by clicking Parse. If all OK click OK.

Sorry if its common knowledge.... but there must be others that are new to BO.

I think it is even possible to change the default value for Long Text in Designer. I believe standard setting is 4000..
