Not all databases available for maintenance plan

SQL Server 2005. In SQL server mgmnt studio I tried to change a maintenance plan to add an additional user database to the backup. However not all the databases are listed and I cannot add the database I want to the plan.

Any ideas why the database would not be available?

Looking at the database in management studio, is it off line or restoring?

Is the plan you are trying to add the DB to a log file backup? If it is, check that the DB you are trying to backup is in full recovery mode.

right click on the database and choose properties. then the options node
