I have an application that is signed using a valid certificate from Verisign.

Most users are able to run my application.

However, one of the users sent me a screenshot of a dialog with the following text:

"Security Warning
Warning: failed to verify the authenticity of this certificate because there was an error parsing the ceritificate. No assertions can be made of the origin og validity of the code.

Installing and running this code is not allowed.

[Exit button]
"

I have no idea why this user is getting this message? He's running XP with JRE 1.4.2 .. I've tested it on that, and it works fine.

The app is run through Java Web Start.

Have you tried re-installing the JRE ? Are you sure the Sun JRE is actually being used, and is not clashing with an older, or Microsoft VM ? Have you checked the Javasoft registry entry ?

Thanks for replying.

It is run through Java Web Start, so it must be using the Sun JRE. As far as I know, the Microsoft VM only ran applets.

The error dialog had a Sun Java logo on it, so I'm fairly certain the Sun JRE is beeing used.

A re-install worked for the user :) .. probably best to always try that if something weird is happening ;)
