Hi all,

I am not able start the db2 control center.
I am getting the error as :
DB2JAVIT : RC=9501
DB@INSTANCE : -2029059914

even if I try to uninstall.
I am not able to uninstall the db2 from my computer.

if I try install again, it goes to finish immediately.
but still the same problems.

Can somebody please help me get out of this problem.

Thanks

I think you need to login as db2inst1 (or su - db2inst1) and restart db2 right after installation (db2start).

Hope this helps.

Marc

What versions of Windows, and what version of Java, Meetramana?

Meetramana,

try using the same id as you installed it under. This is often db2admin at a lot of windows installations.

Although to be fair although I'm used to seeing it installed under db2admin, other users should be able to run it, so not sure that's your problem.

Cheers
Greg

Hi all,

Thankyou all for your responses
These are versions:-
Windows: XP Professional with out SP2
Java : J2RE Stadard Edition 1.3.1_04
DB2 : Enterprise Server Edition 8.1

I always login with one user id, infact I never logged in as a different user at all.

Recent things I tried are :

Removed SQLLIB folder under C\Program Files
Removed DB2CTLSV under C:
Removed DB2 folder under IBM in the registries

still not able to remove DB2 from the computer nor able to install a fresh copy of DB2.

Help me please....

Thanks

Ramana,

What userid do you log in with?

Have you tried logging in as Greg suggested?

Marc

If you try to install DB2 while DB2 is already installed, the new install should point that out.
How did you uninstall DB2 -from control panel-->add/remove programs?
Check if you still see DB2 [under add/remove programs and Services]
Did you reboot the machine?

I log in with the user id ramana and that is the only I log in with any time.

I don't have any user defined with the name db2admin on my pc.

Yes, I still see DB2 Enterprise Server Edition in my control panel.

I tried to uninstall from ControlPanel/add remove programs but it gave me fatal error occured.

Rebooted the machine but didn't help.

SO I removed it in the procedure I mentioned in my earlier replies.

Now I am neither able move forward nor backwards.

I mean to say not able to completely remove it and not able reinstall it.

db2admin is not required. db2admin is not created by db2 by default[unless that was what was explicitly input during install, inwhich case db2admin user would have to be created on windows and added to the Administrators group]. Any user that is in the Administrators group on windows will have sysadm authority.

Attach to the instance. Drop the databases. Issue a db2stop,db2adminstop and then try to uninstall.

I guess you are not getting as far as stopping the instance.
I would do similar like you:
- remove the c:/program files/ibm/sqllib
- remove the c:/db2, and whatever other db2 directories you have
- clear the registry: the software of course is the most important, but if having real trouble searching for DB2 might find quite a lot of other stuff as well like the services etc)
- check and if there clear db2 services in etc/services (on XP: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc)
- and probably I would deinstall Java as well or at least take it out of the path and let DB2 use its own. 1.4 or later of java might be helpful as well.

Next time: save your registry so you will be able to move back there.

I did have a strange problem once before and it turned out as a problem with my cdrom drive: one sequence was not properly read. troublesome to find but after fixing it worked.
