Not able to capture from gl1 to 5.1

when i hit record on the capture box no frames are captured but the record timer runs anyways. the capture box is grey and it has grid-like dots in it. Whats going on?
I used VideoWave software before I got Premeire and it worked. So i know that my cam and hardware is connected properly, confusing.

It could be that your editing card is not good for Adobe premier.
There are programs that don't need a good Dv card so that could be the problem that it worked on other programs and not on Adobe Premier.
