We have got a 2620.

Every time we boot the system we get "Device does not contain a valid magic number.
Boot:cannot open "flash:"
Boot:cannot determine first file name on device "flash:"

and the prompt ends up as rommon 1 >

Is there a way around this or do we need to re-download the IOS imige.

If we do were can we get one from.

we have tried but do not have the write level of permission.

Can anyone help !!!

I believe you need to TFTP a new IOS image to that router.
The router should have come with a CD that contains images, or you can TFTP the image from another 2620 (if you have one) over to a temp server and then to the router.

Yes a new image will be required. I have some more info on this at home, I will post it tonight. Get a new image ready and make sure you have Cisco TFTP server!! Jeter@LasVegas.com
