Hello,

I have setup an ordering database that includes linked tables and main forms with sub-forms. I have also used an autonumber to generate a sequential order number.

I am using the database in a networked environment. There are about 4-5 users at any one time entering orders. Randomly, I am experiencing a 'not a valid bookmark error' on a random record. This then stops me from viewing any information on this particular record. All information that was previously readable gets changed to "#####". Why would this be happening?

Also, I am getting an 'Unrecognised Format' error message randomly. This forces me to exit everyone in the office out of the database, and then Access prompts me to repair the database. In the space of 6 hours today, I have had to do this about 5 times. I can't explain why this would be occuring.

Has anyone had the same sort of experience and does anyone have a solution?

sounds like a corruption problem.

is this a recent occurance? has it run properly in the past?

do you have Recordlocking set on the data entry form? It should be set to Edited Record. otherwise two users can be trying to edit the data of the same record.

also--do you have any kind of functionality where a user hits a button and an update query runs which updates data in maybe all the records, even those that other users may be in the middle of editing?

or--are you in the backend changing data in the tables while users are inputting/editing data thru an input form?

download JetComp.EXE from microsoft..repair your DB using this ..I use this rather then the built in repair and compact. also I have deleted the records marked with ### after running JetComp.EXE... worked for me
