Any need to have Norton on OSX these days? Any suggestions for a decent util to clear issues and optimize performance?

There is no "Norton Utilities" for Mac and Norton AV causes more problems than it solves.

Tech Tool Pro will do what you need.

There was Norton Utilities for OSX but as a sign for its usefulness, it is no longer marketed (as far as I know).

I have a CD buried here somewhere.

Techtool pro is good I also like alsoft.com's Diskwarrior, but with OS X it is worth learning a little unix terminal in order to do some maintenance yourself, but if you are a little worried about going into terminal, using utilities such as OnyX, Tinkertool, or maintain1 will help all of these can be found at macupdate.com

Techtool Pro is marvellous at doing some of the things Norton used to do before it got "Symantec'd".

fsck resolves most problems at a command line prompt in a manner similar to the old b tree leaf problems of OS8/9.
