Norton trial uninstall problem-no internet access

Hi, I am trying to decide which antivirus software to purchase so I downloaded Nortons 15 day trial. It expired today and I wanted to give McAfee a try but when I uninstall Norton it destroys my internet connection. Has anyone had this problem? How can I fix it? Thanks in advance!

Very late answering this I know but if you have not uninstalled the Norton trial do a search on the Symantec site for a programme named Rnav2003, this is a Norton removal tool for 2003.
