Norton website is so confusing, it's impossible to figure out anything! Right now I have Windows XP Media edition on my PC. I Plan to install Vista Ultimate. I Scanned my PC with the Windows Vista Upgrade advisor and was informed that I had to uninstall Norton System Works. I had the 2006 Premier edition. When I went to the Symantec product page it says that Norton System Works is not vista comatable, even their ads for it on their site say that System Works 2007 requires Windows XP. However I found a Norton Vista Upgrade scanner on their website that searches for compatablity with Vista, and ran it. It listed Both System Works Premier 2006 and 2005 on my PC. Found that confusing tto, as when you install 2006 it upgrades from 2005, so the former should no longer exist. So how come it finds both? Anyway it tells me my alternative is Norton System Works 2007 (already a conflict with their store page that tells you to use Norton Internet Security instead because System Works is not for Vista?)I click Purchase and it downloads the System Works 2007 standard edition. Durring the istallation it removes my Norton Goback and does not replace it, even though according to the specs on the store page it's part of the standard version. Also confusing is tha following the installation it asks for a product key or if I want to use as a 15 day trial? However When I originally clicked purchase after the scann told me I needed the upgrade from 2006 it never asked for credit card info, it imediately simply downloaded the program. So, do I need to buy this thing or can I use my Product Key From the 2006 version and treat this as an update? someplace on the website it says:
"Products purchased under our service plans, such as Norton AntiVirus 2006 and Norton AntiVirus 2007, are eligible for Microsoft® Windows Vista™ compatibility update throughout the subscription service period. If you need a Vista-compatible Norton product, please select from the list below. Need another product?
Norton Internet Security 2007

Norton AntiVirus 2007

If you do not see your product listed above, it is not currently available in a Vista compatible version. In order to ensure that you have up to date protection from viruses and other Internet threats, plus solutions to help you prevent and solve problems easily, we recommend the following products:
If you have Norton SystemWorks, please consider Norton Internet Security 2007
If you have Norton Personal Firewall, please consider Norton Internet Security 2007
If you have Norton AntiSpyware, please consider Norton Internet Security 2007
If you have Norton GoBack, please consider Norton Internet Security 2007"
See the contradiction? It offered me System Works 2007 in place of my System Works 2006 Premier, yet above it says it's not compatable use Internet Security. Is My Virus subscription package which I renew all the time and the fact that I just purcased 2006 this past summer so it comes with a built in amount of upgrades for a period of time, the package they are referring to when they say "Products purchased under our service plans, such as Norton AntiVirus 2006 and Norton AntiVirus 2007, are eligible for Microsoft® Windows Vista™ compatibility update throughout the subscription service period"? Or is their some sort of special upgrade plan I would have had to buy? Basicly what I'm asking is based on that statment can I use my 2006 product key? If not, what the heck does that stament mean? Also why did the offer me the standard edition istead of the Premier version I had installed? Is it just default to offer the cheaper version, or is it because parts of Premier, like Ghost won't work with Vista? As I said earlier the insatllation also removed my GoBack and did not reinstall it. Is that a glitch or was that purposely done because it won't work with Vista either yet? I reran the Windows Vista upgrade advisor from Microsoft after the System Works 2007 install and it no longer shows a conflict. This only adds to my confusion as to why Norton dosen't say Vista ready if it offered it Via their own scan, and is it safe or not to reinstall Norton Goback or not> Sorry it's such a long winded list of questions, but I'm quite confused by the mass of contradictions. Thanks for any help.
