Hi, I recently bought a copy of Norton Anti Virus 2007 and it installed fine and all. When I ran LiveUpdate it downloaded about half the things and then told me it had to restart to continue. I rebooted and the dreaded BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) appeared.

***STOP: 0x0000000A (0x00000016, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x80500390)

I didn't really panic at first, I rebooted in Safe Mode. I tried to uninstall it and found out that it cant uninstall in safe mode. I went online to see if this had happened to anybody else and I came across the Norton Removal Tool. I then downloaded it and tried to run it...again...it wont work in Safe Mode.
This is when I began to panic.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Well, whatever you do, do NOT go into the registry and start deleting keys without backing up your files first. Of course, I don't think that USB support exists in safe mode. I would hook that HD up to another computer with a working PC (preferably with Windows 2000 or XP) and back up all of your important files. Your HD should still be physically okay. BTW, if you still have the receipt, I strongly suggest that you return the product and get your money back. There are much better antivirus programs out there that work fine, don't take up so much memory, and don't have a tendency of crashing for no reason. You will probably need to reload the system after you get your data backed up. Then instead of paying for Norton's crap, download AVG Antivirus instead. It's totally free and I have yet to run into a problem with it. I wish I had known about AVG before I paid for Norton 2006 and mailed in the $20 rebate. I thought I was getting a deal, but my laptop was almost hosed in the process.
