Norton Internet security 2005 on windows XP

Hi,
i recently installed Norton Internet Security on my toshiba
notebook running windows-xp. I restarted my system. Everythign worked oK. Then I connected to the internet and
did the first live update.I rebooted my system. Now nothing
works. MY computer comes up but not able to run any program,
can't use windows explorer. Can somebody please help how
I can uninstall this Norton software or somehow get it working. Ctrl-Alt-Delete doesn't work either. No error message comes up either.

Does Safe Mode work?

If it does you could try System Restore from there or maybe the Uninstall.

It might save you a lot of heartache if you contact Norton Internet Security Support and see if they have any experience with this problem.

Try running ChkDsk /r from the Recovery Console.

If they don't work you could try repairing windows by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.
