Ok guys, this is the first time I've ever encountered this problem, I am wondering if it ever happened to you and how you recovered the data.
I am working on a friend's laptop running Win M.E.
I attached a USB external hard drive enclosure converter with a fujitsu 40 GIG, 5,400RPM HD to his notebook.
I used Norton Ghost 2003 to clone his 20GIG HD to the External, USB 40GIG HD.
100% into the Clone, the notebook screen blacked out and made a weird beep sound from the speaker. My friend without asking me, restarted his computer.
When we go back to the 40GIG HD, everything (files and folders) seems ok. We restarted the notebook.
After the notebook restarted, all his pictures from my document were gone. The most important file fo them all was a document for Business Plan Writer .bpw format, when opened, it came up blank. Prior to the restart, the files were still there, but file can't be found message pops up when we try to open it. The file disappeared from both the C: (the original drive) and E: (USB external HD). How can this possible?
Was wondering if you guys can give me a tip or two to go about with recovering this file.
Thanks in advance for your help.
