hello all, i have an emachine that i'm trying to install a larger hd on. i've done this plenty of times but this time i'm running into problems. i installed norton ghost 2003 on the old hard drive with windows xp on it... rebooted after install... registered the ghost software... started up ghost and set it to reboot with interactive mode. reboot and i'm getting a "missing operating system" error. no ghost. no windows. i'm guessing that the boot.ini file now has a corrupt ghost entry and that is keeping windows from loading. is there any way to edit that now that i can't get into windows?

thanks

Boot from the XP CD in to Repair concel and use the commamd
bootcfg /default or bootcfg /rebuild doing a hootcfg /? should give you all the options.

the xp boot cd gives me a keyboard error every time... xp pro. xp home both stop with keyboard errors.

i found this... created an ntfs boot disk which lets me get to the boot menu... but windows just hangs on startup... i tried safe mode with this boot disk and it hangs on iomdisk.sys... is there anyway to remove items from the safe mode boot sequence? i don't need the iomega drivers to load when i'm in safe mode.

thanks
