I am using windows XP in my IBM thinkpad. I have been facing this problem of autaomatic restarting for quite a long period. Whenever I do any of the following the system restarts : Open the MS-DOS command prompt (or) Start downloading a software from the internet (or) Open the windows registry (or) Start a game. These have been the only instances that I have noted.
Thinking that this may be a virus problem I mended with the Norton AV 2006 that was present in my system. Now whenever the system reboots five error messages saying "A necessary file could not be loaded: \NAVOPTRF.DLL" (and four other dlls) occurs. These dlls are available in the folders but I do not know how to make them available for the application to load. I am also not able to uninstall NAV 2006 from the system and hence not able to go for any new versions.
Let me know how these problems can be overcome.
