I am running Windows 2000 server on my laptp(no other systems connected to it) and am in desperate need for a virus program. Can someone shed some light on the difference between the Norton vs McAffee solutions. Are the two simply a wash or is there a significant difference between the two?

Best suggestion would be to try out both of them (if you can get copies) and see which one you're more comfortable with, and which one doesn't interfere with your work.

... take my advice, I don't use it anyway!

Both quality are quality solutions and represent two of the premier vendors in the anti-virus market. You should browse through the marketing information available at the vendors web sites to see if either has any unique features that you need in specific. If your need is just for anti-virus protection then either solution will do the trick.

Good Luck...george

I used to have McAfee Netshield and now have Symantec Antivirus. I find Symantec much better especially on a large network. If you want to scale up drop McAffe like a hotg potato.
