A client has run into an issue with the upgrade of their NAVCE 7.5 to 7.6 all machines were upgraded (including clients - approximately 100 units) before the two domain controllers (installed as servers but not Primary). Neither unit will install, the copying process gets to 100% and quits. One of the two servers is also the Exchange server and has NAVMSE running. Same account is being used for install as was used on all other machines - Same media is being used as well. We have escalated the case with Symantec and received an updated version of the software from them, with the same result. I have reset the security as detailed on the Symantec site and made changes to the registry as well. I find it very odd that it is only on the domain controllers that this problem is occuring. Has anyone else run into this issue and so how was it resolved for you. I would rather not have to rebuild the units but that appears to be the path down which we are headed.
Thanks

Try this:

Start the install process.....When it hangs do the following:

At the Run Command on the server you are pushing the install from, type:

msiexec /i "c:\program files\nav\navsetup\navce.msi" /qn+

I have had the same problem at a client of mine, except it wasn't an upgrade, but none the less i'm getting the problem, and i've tried running that msiexec command and it give me setup failed, I've contacted symantec about this and nothing they've suggested has helped. It's a small network, only one server, running Exchange 2000, a 1.26GHz and 1024 MB of RAM, and 50 Gig free space, I've gone through cleaning out the registry, temp file locations, followed symantec's advice and documents step by tedious step and it will still hang. Any help is appreciated.

Hey, just had the same problem,
looked up some stuff on the web.
msiexec is the windows installer, and may need to be
updated according to some web pages I have read, I haven't gotten to try out this fix yet, but, installing pkzip explorer from pkware ( does upgrade this installer, and may fix this Issue.
