Since loading Norton Antivirus on to a Desktop running Windows 98 I have not been able to run the defrag.software. Has anyone else had this trouble and if so have they found the solution?

To properly run a defrag in this situation, I have had to restart the workstation in safe mode and run it from there. Disabling real-time scanning didn't seem to have any affect on the defrag failures.

Yes that is normal, you need to disable autoprotect. The reason for this a comon thing a virus does is move data on your hard drive, so Norton sees it as a virus action and keeps interupting it, since defrag is doing just that (moving information on your harddrive)

Not good english ???

But whith NAV corporate edition and my pc, i uncheck in the main window : "load nav services" and i can defrag.

Other solution is to uncheck with msconfig /start

vptray, rtvscn95 and defwatch and restart windows and defrag.
Remind you must check this program for the next restart to load nav for security
