I downloaded norton antivirus 2004 from the symantec website. I have a problem with it. Usually i would just unistall it and reinstall it, BUT i did'nt save it to disk, i just clicked "RUN" from location... DOH !!!

Norton tells me my virus definitions are NOT up to date. However, when i update my virus definitions using the "live update" function norton tells me that all my definitions are up to date.
I have a valid subscription. and have also been onto the symantec webisite to run the diagnostic tool.
The tool tells me that i have the old live update tool and that i need to download the new live update tool.
I have downloaded the latest update tool from symantec tftp server and this has not resolved the problem.

Any help would be very welcome as i am sooo close to scraping norton antivirus 2004

cheers
Dave

try to downlaod the update file from that link,

install, reboot, open norton, and look at the virus def date...

I think also, norton support can autorize you to download it again if you have your activation code...I think i read something on their site, one day...

GOOD luck,

200MMX is not big but enough to have fun!

I've had a similar problem.
I've just uninstalled and reinstalled NIS 2004.
It had been working fine with XP for about 4 months, but since downloading the last update it's been a disaster.
Symantec help files auto-checked the installation and stated I had an old version of Auto Update - so I downloaded the new one.
The first time I ran it, it told me that autoupdate was out of date.
The only way I can access the internet is to switch-off Personal Firewall (I've tried customising the confijuration to no avail)
Seriously considering AVG and McAfee!
Anyone any ideas?
(Life's too short for another 25mb download from Symantec!
Regards
Rob
