Norton 2004 subsription service

Hi,

I am not due to update my subsription to Norton Internet Security until mid next year.
My question is: I have heard people say that they have not been able to run liveupdate once their subscrption has run out, even after renewing it. Does this apply to all versions of Norton, and if this is the case, whats the point of resubsribing to something thats not going to keep you protected?
Could people please shed some light on this, and let me know if simply resubsribing when my year is up will entitle me to get updates?

Norton products do weird things. I would recommend purchasing a different antivirus once it expires.

However, generally speaking, if your file system is kept in good order, liveupdate should work fine, even after it expires. At that point, you will be told to whip out a credit card and renew the subscription.

I have seen isolated incedents of where liveupdate stops working, but I would not worry about it.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

OK, I have just noticed something already, and my subscription has not run out! I have not seen "liveupdate" working when I am on the net for a while. I have to manually click "liveupdate" to get the latest updates! I have made sure that everything is set to automatically get updates. Is there something else that needs to be done? Or does it only check for updates once and while?
