I have two new pc;s with Norton AntiVirus 2006. All of a sudden both pc's received "fatal internal program errors", uninstalled itself, then I had to reinstall. It happened about 4 times. I finially got Symantic on the phone. They sent me 3 uninstall files, I ran them and reinstalled. So far so good. Has anyone heard of this happening? Two pc's at once? Almost seems like a virus attacked Norton!

Yes. I administer a number of PC's. I frequently see usually 2 PC's stop working at the same time. I have had as many as 5 PC's down at one time (out of 10). Especially after a LiveUpdate run. It seems to corrupt its files or says the license is expired. It takes maybe 5 hours to get a PC working again. This happens maybe once a week.

So far Symantec has been unable to get two of the PC's working with NAV 6. They gave up, and refused to refund the price.

It appears Norton AntiVirus is not a very solid product or maybe its too complex to support adequately. One thing we did that is not really technical, is we filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I think if enough people have problems, then the vendor might listen.

Thanks for the reply. I finally got someone on the phone thru Symantec. Of course she was from India and I could not understand 80% of what she was telling me! But, she emailed me 3 files that had to run in order to completely uninstall Norton, then reinstall from my CD's! It worked. I did send them a nasty letter that I will never use them again! I'm sure they deleted it.
