I was wondering if it were possible to install a 2.26 500 FSB Northwood processor on a ASRock P4V88 RAID Socket 478 VIA PT880 ATX Intel Motherboard, which i found on Newegg.com and i think supports prescott and celeron, and would there be any damage done on the cpu and/or motherboard?

Yes it does support 533fsb Northwoods core CPU's socket 478
This newer motherboard is backward compatible so supports 400/533/800 to Prescott core with 478pins No damage!

thanks for the help, i knew that the board supported 533 FSB and was compatible with a 478 pin CPU, but if you go to the link and look under supported CPU it makes no mention of the Northwood processor, only the prescott and celeron. I dont want to buy the board and relize that it wouldnt work with the CPU.
P.S. What do you think about the motherboard? Worth buying?

The precott CPU's are just the ones in the top box.
Yours is clearly in the middle box, presumably Northwood.

This is a reasonable budget solution, I have had good results using Asrock motherboards.
The Via 880 chipset is fairly up to date providing solid if not blistering performance from an entry level offering, prefered to SIS alternatives (in my opinion)
