I have a Northern Telecom Merdian phone system. When people need to page overhead they press "55", then the zone number ie 01, or 02. Only problem is, paging is limited to 18 seconds allowed. I am trying to figure out how to set it so there is unlimited amount of time to page overhead.

olympus41, check your TFD (Timed Forced Disconnect) setting on your route:
Ld 21
Prt
Rdb(enter the route number for your paging trunk)
look for the "TIMR" gate-opener
then look for the value for "TFD" Default is 0.
If it is set to 18, go to ld 16 and change it to 0.
We had a limit of 30 seconds because people would play practical jokes by accessing the paging system and leave it off hook. Since this was a large warehouse, it was difficult to find the phone that was off hook. With the 30 second timer, the system would hang up on the phone and release the trunk for others to use.
