I have a Northern Telecom Meridian PBX. I am trying to set up our ACD to play an announcement or music while a person is in cue. Currently all callers in cue get RINGING until someone becomes AVAILABLE to accept the call in cue. We have a MUSIC-ON-HOLD unit to be able to accomplish playing MUSIC when a person is on hold.

Thank you,

you will hear ring back because you dont have a RAN to answer the call and return answer supervision. Build a ran trunk to handle the calls arriving then after they hear that they will hear music.

Assign your music on hold route in your call treatment script.

If you are just using basic ACD then....

Get your Music Route. If you do not know then do a file capture and print your RDB. Look for the one Type: MUS.

For example purposes let's say 20.

Go to LD 23.

REQ: CHG
TYPE: ACD
CUST: 0 <-- YOU HAVE TO ENTER CUST NUMBER
ACDN: ACDN YOU WANT TO ADD MUSIC
yada..yada...hit enter until you get to..
MURT: 20 <-- ENTER YOUR MUSIC ROUTE HERE.

Then just enter through the rest and you are done.

Hope this helps.

Janaya,

My music route is "3", and I have added that to my ACD 5111 under the option MURT. I have made a test call to my ACD 5111, and still I only hear ringing, no music. What am I doing wrong? Am I forgetting something?

it will not play music unless the call is ansered by a ran route.
FRRT #. this must be assigned or you will get ring back only. after the call is answered by the ran then the music will play.
