I went on a call yesterday that had a nortel mics. Receptionist told me the building had a power issue
overnight and the system had lost programing.
I recycled the system and reprogramed it and all seemed to be good. Then about 2hrs later she emailed and
said it was back to the way it was when I came. Any help would be appreciated.

is the memory stored in the mics cabinet or a card??

Is there a PCMCIA card and a 'sleeve' that accepts the PCMCIA card. Usually in this case I order a new sleeve, reprogram and good to go. There is a CAP in there that goes bad.

Why is the system losing power 2 hours after you left?

Memory (capacitor) is something like this:
8X24 - Sleeve
MICS - KSU (most programming) & Sleeve (PRI programming)

Depending on voice mail type & software it's a good time to upgrade/install 7.1 software with an NVRAM Rls 2 cartridge.

If still no go then KSU capacitor is the culprit.

In these calls be it KSU or Voice Mail I always program one little thing then power down for a few minutes then power back up and check to see if my programming stayed.
This way if it didn't stay then you can just do partial programming to get them going until a replacement and/or UPS is installed.
