Hi...

Customer of ours has a Nortel WSS-2380 (v6.0) that dropped off their network. It's connected to an ERS-5530 switch. I'm getting no link light, no activity. As a result, all of their 2330a access points are down.

Checked the port on the switch, and the configuration is where it should be - no changes there that I could detect. According to the 2380's logs, some config change took place in the middle of the night - but the customer denies knowing anything that may have happened that night.

If I plug the 2380 into an unmanaged switch or a laptop, I get a link light and activity.

Looking at the only knowledge base article on Avaya's website I can find for the 2380, I scanned all of the VLAN's the 2380 is associated with for duplicate IP addresses that would conflict with the ones for each VLAN on the 2380 - but found none.

Tried a soft reset, a power down/power up, bringing up the ports and VLAN's in the serial port console... no luck.

Stumped on this one.

Any ideas? This customer is time/materials, and the meter's been running for a while on this one and so far no answers.

Thanks.

Bad port on the 5530 maybe? Have you tried an admin disable/enable on the 5530 port? I've seen instances where the port gets shut down due to loop or broadcast issues and the only way to clear it is to disable and enable the port. Similar to what happens on an 8600 where the CPU shuts down a port if excessive traffic is seen.

Thanks. Tried that a few times, different port, etc... One of my co-workers suggested trying to flush the MAC address table in the 5530 - possible a poisoned MAC address in the spanning-tree table from the 2380 may be the culprit. Will see if that works.
