I've just implemented a small wireless area covered by one AP (Nortel WLAN 2220) but the signal is not totally reliable. I've got it setup to filter MAC addresses and use WEP 128 bit encryption. I have steady network access to the AP, but the signal from the AP is not steady. It cuts out every few hours and is sometimes not available for 15 minutes at a time. I've switched AP's and get the same result. Do you have any troubleshooting techniques or apps that I could try? Thanks for the help.

I would look at enivronmental causes. I have seen a dentists office where at first the signal would not penetrate the walls around the X-Ray room because of sheilding. When the the access point was moved it would still have a intermittent problems whenever the X-Ray room door was open and they did an X-Ray. I'm not sure of the physics/science behind the disruption but I know it can happen. In the dentist office case this was not a Nortel access point but all access points use the same freqency range so you may have a simular problem. Look for something that could be generating a signal that could disrupt the wireless whenever you see an outage.

Good Luck,
