So for $10 I acquired a year 1990 Unity Controller Console made by Northern Telecom. I figured it would be a simple phone that I could plug 3 analog Intercom extension lines off my BCM50 straight into the back of the Unity phone....(for experimentation) but to my surprise, this phone has a male amphenol port, a power adpater port, a handset port and a 8 pin port on the back of the phone and nothing else.

I have a power adapter cord.

So does anyone know the easiest way for me to wire this up? I have a prewired 66 block with amp. connector that I could plug into the back of the Unity phone, but where do I punch my analog pair of wires from the "telco" (in this case my BCM analog I/C dialtone) into this Unity set.

Gordon,

This phone has one really wacky punch-down.
The majority of the pins are used for extended A/A1 signaling,
that gains features when used with Unity III sets. Other A-lead signaling will simply light the lamp on the Unity XX console associated with the pair you use.

Forgive me, I digress..

The line show up as follows:

Line 1: Pair 2 (White/Orange)
Line 2: Pair 4 (White/Brown)
Line 3: Pair 6 (Red/Blue)

I hope this helps!

Gordon,

I had to get the manual as I had some misgivings about the directions I gave you. The manual shows the pinouts, and I'm afraid I gave you pairs at the wrong end of the connector, based on what I am reading.

Here is what the book says (verbatim):

Line 1: Tip 49 Ring 24 (should be Violet Brown)
Line 2: Tip 47 Ring 22 (should be Violet Orange)
Line 3: Tip 45 Ping 20 (should be Yellow Slate)

Like I said really wacky punchdown pairs. And it gets worse if you try to hook up the lights. I remember I spoke to a tech that had to hook one up using a standard 25 pair cable as opposed to the NTD30XX cable Nortel recommends. Boy was he P.O.ed!
At least you only have the 3 pairs to deal with!

By the way, the buttons memorize 14 digits including LINK and PAUSE (Hold Key).

To program:
Press and release PROGRAM.
Press one of the 15 DSS keys.
Dial the number including LINK or PAUSE (Hold Key).
Press and release PROGRAM.
