Nortel SR1002/1004 Corrupt

Well today I'm working on testing a few Nortle SR 1002/1004' and I have a couple of these routers which have had their flash corrupted.

I've attempted to boot from a TFTP server (my laptop) and it finds the files, but the upload fails, or after uploading, the System Validation Fails.

Does anyone know of a recovery procedure for these?

Had that on a spare unit we had never used for a couple of years. First thing out of the mouth of the tech "how long has it been since it was plugged in?" From what I was told, if the battery dies, the flash corrupts.
