Our vendor has told us that we can buy software packages individually for $1,000 each, but there is also a software service transaction fee of $1,500. Does this sound correct to anyone? Thank you
It depends on what system. Opt 61c - 81c that is the only way to buy your packages. I have to pay $1000 for my transaction fees. My advice is look at what packages you will need and buy them all at once. I have been getting my packages for about $200 a piece, However my maintenance contract dictates that they have to install it. My total cost for a PKG is $2100
If you are going to buy a PKG check the NTP's for any other PKG that you may need with the PKG you want work correctly. Vendors are good at getting this messed up. Remember even if they screw up you still have to pay the transaction fee to Nortel. (This Comes From Experiance with Vendors)
First you should check what feature set you have and what feature set you require so that you can calculate the cost. Nortel charges "Sofwtare Reproduction Fee" when ever feature sets are upgraded which is usually 1000 US$. So upgrade the required feature in one go to save $$.
If you have any difficulty finding the feature set of you system, let me know.
