Hello,

I am in the process of turning up two Nortel Secure Router 3120's and I'm having difficult getting 2 modules to work:

Modules installed:
slot 1 = MM-1DS3
slot 2 = MM-4TE1

It seems the router is not seeing these modules. I went into SR > Show > System > Configuration and I'm getting the following error:

Linecard 1 information:
id_getEeprom: Corrupted ID EEPROM in vslot=0x1 devId=0 Bad chksum 0x33f8/0x3890
boardEepromBoardParamGet: Could not get EEPROM content for vslotId=0x1
Board Type: N/A

Linecard 2 information:
0x8b53aa30 (tcliCo): sysI2Cget: fail at addr 0xa2 offset 128 len 8 in 4 attempt
boardEepromBoardParamGet: Could not get EEPROM content for vslotId=0x2
Board Type: N/A
0x8b53aa30 (tcliCo): sysI2Cge

The version of software I'm running on this router is r9.1. Anybody run into this before? All of this hardware is brand new so I don't think I have modules, but again this is my 1st time configuring a Nortel router.

Any thoughts?

I'd open a ticket with Nortel before you have to deal with it any longer. I had to RMA my first 3120 because of a bad fan out of the box. I've also had T1 interface failures in four of my SR1002 routers (same router family as the 3120, purchased from Tasman)...and this in the first 8 months of operation.

(OTOH, I have Adtran DSUs and Nortel AN/ARN/ASN routers that have run for years without issues).

I hope we dont have that many issues... we just got in 2 3120s and 57 1001s I have to get config for 3 channelized DS3's...

1 thing I can say is that the 1001's get HOT bad air flow design.

Hey guys thanks for the suggestions. I went ahead and started moving the modules around and the modules are now active. Seems when I was trying to run the 4-port T1 and 1-port DS3 module, it would only work if i had the T1 module in slot 1, and the DS3 module in slot 2. If i swapped the cards, neither would show up. I was able to re-create this problem in another 3120 also... that quad-T1 card must need to be in slot 1.
